The Opal Shaft specializes in Opal Jewellery & Creations with Opals from our Family Mine in Lightning Ridge & Family Collection from other Australian Fields.

Early 2026 we will be setting up our display at 96 Opal Street, Lightning Ridge (just look for the big Opal Shaft drilling Rig) during the Opal season of March till September. We also plan to have a stand at the very popular Lightning Ridge Sunday Markets (held outside the information centre).

Our original Family Mine Camp is Located in Lightning Ridge along the Green Car Door Tourist Track (Dirt Road) on top of Nebia Hill. Just set back out of view from the road stands the original Western Lands Lease Opal Mining “Camp” bought by my Mum & Dad back in the 1980s and still in the family today (but no longer mined). Some are sourced from our two previous mines at Grawin, the remainder have been purchased directly from miners around various Australian fields.
